The first way you can help stop people from scamming Medicare is to protect your personal information.
- Do not give out your personal information to someone you do not know, even if they claim to be from Medicare.
- Take your Social Security Number off your driver’s or non-driver’s license. Have it replaced with an ID number.
- Take your Social Security Number off your checks. Replace it with your driver’s ID number.
- Do not carry your Medicare card in your purse or wallet. Carry an “In Case of Emergency” card instead.
