Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Issues Bulletin Addressing 2026 Rule Changes
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready has issued Bulletin 2026-02 addressing 2026 rule changes following approval through House Joint Resolution 1091 (HJR. 1091). These updates, effective July 25, 2026, focus on key areas to modernize insurance regulation and improve consumer protections.
“These updates assist in keeping our rules current while providing greater clarity for the insurance industry and added protection for Oklahoma consumers,” Mulready said.
Key rule changes include:
- Increasing the time frame for notification from an insurer to a policyholder regarding the nonrenewal or cancellation of a homeowners insurance policy or any other personal residential insurance coverage to 60 days
- Removing outdated provisions related to discontinued programs and obsolete forms
- Modernizing the filing requirements for insurers and health maintenance organizations (HMOs)
