WARNING METEOROLOGIST AT THE NWS NORMAN FORCAST OFFICE

Rick Smith is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Norman Forecast Office. He manages NWS Norman’s hazardous weather preparedness, outreach and education activities for the office’s 56 county area of responsibility. Rick and the NWS Norman staff work closely with the media, emergency managers and other state, county, tribal and local government officials to ensure that communities in central and western Oklahoma and western north Texas are ready when hazardous weather threatens.

Rick has been a meteorologist with the National Weather Service since 1992, working at offices in Memphis, Tennessee, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Fort Worth, Texas before coming to Norman in 2002.

JASON JOHNSTON CIC, CISR

Jason has served in the Consumer Assistance Division for more than two decades.

After attending college at OSU-OKC Community College, Jason began his career at OID by receiving mail in the claims division.  He has been a member of the Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) designation program for 15+ years and has received two Governor-issued Accommodations for his work assisting Oklahomans after natural disasters.

Jason is currently serving as chairperson for Fostering Sweet Dreams Foundation, a non-profit that provides tangible needs such as beds, car seats, high chairs and strollers to kinship foster care placements along with unexpected traditional foster care placements.

GAYE HUMPHREY

OUTREACH SPECIALIST AND TEAM LEAD FOR THE LOCAL ENGAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION GROUP OF CMS DALLAS

Gaye Humphrey is an Outreach Specialist and Team Lead for the Local Engagement and Administration (LEA) Group of CMS Dallas. She has content expertise from over fifteen years’ experience as a subject matter expert on Medicare program benefits. Gaye is the LEA training lead, and serves on the Medicare National Training Program workgroup. She is CMS Dallas’s SHIP and SMP regional liaison, team lead for opioid crisis outreach, and team lead for tribal outreach. The majority of her time is spent planning and implementing outreach and educational events, as well as partnership/stakeholder development.
